We purchased our first dairy goat in 2008, and what started as a single doe as a companion animal for a retired horse has evolved into full time seasonal goat dairy producing approximately 140lbs of cheese and yogurt weekly. We breed our animals for productivity as well as correctness to the Nubian dairy goat standard and personality. Every doe in our milking herd has a name and we know each lady's personality and quirks.
Our philosophy is that tasty cheese comes from happy and healthy animals. Our herd management practices have developed over the years to ensure that our goats are healthy and productive.
Our herd consists of an average of 75 animals that are housed within sight of our home. The does have free access to their barn, and approximately 3 acres of mixed pasture and forest at all times, and fed local hay at least three times daily. Does in milk and growing doelings are supplemented with grain rations. No routine antibiotics or hormones are used, and animals are treated for internal parasites as indicated by fecal egg counts.
Our goats are all Purebred and American Nubians, registered with the American Dairy Goat Association. We offer a limited number of kids for sale each year. Please click here for more information about goats for sale.
